Beckenried

The municipality of Beckenried is situated idyllically on the shores of the beautiful Lake Lucerne as well as the Klewenalp to the south. The approximately 3,700 residents appreciate the attractive holiday and residential location. In addition to diverse workplaces in small and medium-sized enterprises, the village also offers an extremely attractive leisure and club activities programme.

With public transport, you have plenty of options. If you're in a hurry, take the train or bus and reach Lucerne in approximately 45 minutes via Stans railway station from the bus stop Beckenried Boden, just 100 m away. If you have a bit more time, use the passenger ships of Lake Lucerne shipping.

The A2 motorway, one of Europe's most important north-south transport axes, runs through the canton of Nidwalden. This allows you to reach the city of Lucerne in 20 minutes and Zurich airport in approximately 65 minutes.

Beckenried, with its traditional hotels and holiday apartments and its direct lakeside location, is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts: whether swimming, SUP, sailing, rowing or wakeboarding – the possibilities are extensive. Beckenried also offers ideal conditions for tennis and mini golf, hiking and mountain biking, or simply relaxing.

Within walking distance is a public bathing meadow with lake access. You can also enjoy pleasant and carefree moments at the lake at the Beckenried lido or in a restaurant on the lake promenade.

At Beckenried School, all eleven years of compulsory education can be completed. There is a two-year kindergarten, six primary school classes and three classes of lower secondary school. After primary school, it is possible to attend Kollegium St. Fidelis (grammar school) in the neighbouring municipality of Stans. Beckenried School also operates its own music school and library.

The Christen Beck and Volg shops, located only approximately 400 metres away, offer almost everything for daily needs. Additional shopping opportunities such as a Denner and Chäs Käslin as well as various service businesses round off the range in Beckenried municipality.

The nearest Migros and Coop are located in the neighbouring municipality of Buochs. And if a larger shopping trip is planned, the Länderpark Stans with around 53 shops is accessible in just seven minutes by car.

Tax rates in the canton of Nidwalden range from 4.15 units (Hergiswil) to 5.16 units (Wolfenschiessen). With 4.45 tax units, Beckenried ranks fourth among the most tax-efficient municipalities in Nidwalden.
