On January 1, 2023, the municipalities of Herznach and Ueken merged to form the new political municipality of Herznach-Ueken. The Herznach district has around 1,600 residents (plus Ueken approximately 970) and is centrally located between Zurich and Basel in the core area of the "Jurapark Aargau" nature and recreation area. With its extensive local recreation and forest areas, the new district offers a very high quality of life.
