This cozy village is surrounded by an attractive mountain landscape at the eastern end of Lake Brienz. Known as a carvers' village, Brienz has a long tradition in woodworking and is home to the School of Wood Sculpture and the School of Violin Making, two educational institutions of world renown. Brienz includes, among other things, the Axalp, which is used primarily for tourism.
